Colorado Springs Fire Explorer Post #1894: for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 years old. The intent of the Fire Explorer Program, in conjunction with Learning for Life, is to offer young adults real-life experiences, training, and exposure to the career opportunities available in the Fire Service. This program will allow young people to be informed and involved in the Fire and Emergency Medical Services while actively serving our community.

Program Requirements

  1. Must be between the ages of 14 years of age and in 9th grade.
  2. Must have and maintain a GPA of "C" (2.0) or better in school.
  3. Must have parent's permission to participate in all post functions.
  4. Must participate in most community service events, (minimum of four per year).

Fire Explorer Academy

The Fire Explorer Academy meets every day for one week in June or July.  Fire Explorers will receive training and an introduction to what it is like to be an entry level firefighter.  This week of training consists of long hours and is both mentally and physically challenging. 

Application

You may download our application for review and completion!  We accept applications year-round but only accept new Fire Explorers in January of each year.  After signing up in January and becoming a Fire Explorer you may attend the Explorer Academy held in the summer.
