Joining CSPD: Hometown Kids (60 second)

Welcome to the CSPD police officer recruitment website. With over 800 diverse sworn officers, the CSPD offers opportunities and excitement for those choosing to serve our community as a police officer.  Since our humble beginnings in the late 1800s, the CSPD has maintained a standard of excellence that you would be proud to join.

We embrace a proactive policing or Community Oriented Policing philosophy, rather than only crime response.  We seek to understand and focus on why crimes are committed and find ways to remove the conditions that are most likely to lead to criminal activity. We expect our officers to exhibit this philosophy and actively create community and police partnerships that identify problems and craft solutions.

Through a rigorous testing and qualification process, we ensure that only the most qualified individuals earn the right to wear our badge. If you feel that you have the integrity, character and abilities required to proudly wear the uniform of a Colorado Springs Police Officer, you are invited to review our qualification information.

If you have any questions regarding recruitment, please email our Recruiter at CSPDRecruiting@coloradosprings.gov

We're excited to announce the implementation of continuous hiring!

The Colorado Springs Police Department will accept applications all year for police academies that will start every 15 weeks.  After applying for the position of Police Recruit or Police Lateral Recruit, you will immediately receive information about the online written examination and oral boards.  After successfully completing the testing process, those candidates that score in Band A – D will move directly to the background process.  Continuous testing and hiring will significantly reduce the amount of time you have to wait to see if you have been selected for an academy.

Have you thought about becoming a Community Service Officer?

A CSPD Community Service Officer assists police officers by responding to and investigating lower priority calls for service.  As a result of the CSO Unit taking over these calls for service, police officers are able to respond to higher priority calls in a timely manner. CSOs do not respond to any calls for service where the incident is in-progress or the suspect is still on scene.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is an Equal Employment Opportunity organization.
